Services Renal Ultrasound
A renal ultrasound is a safe and noninvasive exam that uses sound waves to create images of the kidneys and related structures, like ureters and the bladder. These ultrasounds are usually ordered when there is a concern of kidney or bladder problems.
The kidneys are examined to determine their size, shape and exact position in the abdomen. Renal ultrasounds can also detect signs of injury to the kidneys, complications of a urinary tract infection, and the presence of blockages, kidney stones, cysts or tumors.
Before the renal ultrasound, it is important to only drink clear liquids from the night before the test until your test is complete.
